Alto Software is a Symbolic Processing and Database Consultants company. We perform developments on both UNIX© workstations and Apple© Macintosh© computers.

Alto Software has a 10 years experience in these two main fields. Our experience has been gained while working for prestigious and knowledgable companies, toward the participation to large european research projects, but also through the development and support of our own software packages (consult our products page).

Alto Software is a small but robust company. Alto Software has a very high and valuable knowledge of Symbolic Processing and Database software development and provides consultancy to both industries and Universities. Its development staff has worked for prestigious companies and research institutions such as ULg (Université de Liège), SAS© (Space Application Services), Harlequin© Ltd, etc.

Alto Software develops its software in Common Lisp and CLOS (Common Lisp Object System) and uses the two following development environment:

• Allegro CL©, CLIM© and Allegro Composer© on UNIX© platforms
• Macintosh Common Lisp© on Apple© Macintosh© computers

Alto Software also has a good knowledge of C/C++, and uses its skill when, for exemple, an Operating System or a Database low level interface is required by one of its packages.

Alto Software uses AllegroStore© database management system on on UNIX© platforms, but can provide consultancy in using and/or developing with standard relational database management systems such as ORACLE©. Alto Software has a high knowledge of SQL. Alto Software also uses small database tools and is an expert in FoxBASE+ which is our database management system on Macintosh© computers.

Hardware Solutions and Network Management

Alto Software specializes in UNIX© workstations and is an IBM©, HP© and SUN© Value Added Reseller. We sell, configure, install and support these platforms on site or through the use of our ISDN connection, in both homegeneous and heterogeneous environments. We can configure and maintain complex networks. We can provide all sorts of peripherals to these machines. Alto Software sells Apple© products such Macintosh©, printers scanners ... to individuals and companies, from administration offices to graphists and music labs. We can provide all possible peripherals to these machines. We can also install, configure and support them. We can provide companies with network consultancy to integrate Macintosh© and UNIX© heterogeneous network.
